How do I give extra credit?
The easiest approach is to use ÒExtra Credit AssignmentsÓ, as shown below.
Extra Credit Assignments:
At any time, you may use the Assignments window to create one or more extra credit assignments worth 0 points possible. These assignments do not affect the total points possible for anyone, so scores of 'Incomplete' or '0' will not have any effect on students' grades.
For example, if Susie received 300 out of 400 points possible in a Homework category, then she would normally receive a grade of 300 / 400 = 75% in Homework.
But, suppose there is an extra credit assignment in the Homework category, and Susie receives 20 points on that assignment (out of 0 points possible). Then her grade for Homework would be 320 / 400 = 80%.
The same technique could be used in other categories besides Homework. A student's grade will be simply determined by dividing total points achieved by total points possible.
Extra credit assignments (with 0 points possible) can change the points achieved, but not the points possible.
You may enter negative scores for any assignment, including extra credit assignments, to lower a student's grade.
